50 Cent Dodges O’Reilly Show Invite, Goes On Twitter Rampage

Fox News correspondent Bill O’Reilly has long made Hip Hop music a target of his often biting critique and grueling analysis. Having locked horns on his “The O’Reilly Factor” program with Cam’Ron, Lupe Fiasco and Ludacris, Bill O’Reilly has now made RB singer Chris Brown and rap mogul 50 Cent targets of his intense scrutiny.
Last week on “The O’Reilly Factor, the host invited fellow FOX correspondent Laura Ingraham onto his show to address her claim that Chris Brown has been “let off the hook” for his 2009 altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. What caused Ingraham’s critique was NBC’s accepting the singer for a performance, assessing in her view that Brown isn’t deserving of praise. The news of Ingraham’s decrying Brown spread via the web, even causing 50 Cent to stand up to defend Chris Brown which O’Reilly and Ingraham also attacked.
Bill O’Reilly read off some fiery tweets from Brown’s Twitter account and the 50 Cent tweet in where the rapper said, “I just saw a clip on FOX news Hating on NBC for having chris brown on unbelievable. I’m never watching that again. He paid for his mistake a–holes.” In typical O’Reilly fashion, the Fox News host said of that Brown “does not live on this planet” – in a direct response to Brown’s twitter feed in where he lambasted Fox for bringing up his past issues.
Bill O’Reilly, a master of debate, invited both Breezy and Fif to his program to which 50 Cent humorously declined via his Twitter account and offering some biting criticism of his own of the Fox News hosts. “Anyway thanks for the invite to your show old billy bobb when we become powerful enough to change the world in conversation Ill stop by lol,” tweeted Fif. 50 Cent then continued to rail on Ingraham and O’Reilly in a series of his typically colorful tweets.

Russell Brand Remembers ‘Genius’ Friend Amy Winehouse

Stars of all genres and ages took to Twitter yesterday to mourn the sudden and sad loss of singer Amy Winehouse, and now there’s a sprawling tribute that goes far beyond 140 characters, written by fellow Brit (and also former addict) Russell Brand. The Get Him to The Greek funnyman took to his own website to write a post titled “For Amy,” in which he remembers how he came to know Winehouse during her early days in the music biz, and what it was like seeing her perform for the first time — and watching her ascend into the darkness that ultimately led to her demise.
Brand opens the post reflecting on what many have been thinking since news of Winehouse’s death broke: That somewhere inside, many knew this day might come. He wrote:
When you love someone who suffers from the disease of addiction you await the phone call. There will be a phone call. The sincere hope is that the call will be from the addict themselves, telling you they’ve had enough, that they’re ready to stop, ready to try something new. Of course though, you fear the other call, the sad nocturnal chime from a friend or relative telling you it’s too late, she’s gone.
He goes onto talk about how he and Winehouse became familiar with each other, saying he “first met her around Camden she was just some twit in a pink satin jacket shuffling round bars with mutual friends, most of whom were in cool Indie bands or peripheral Camden figures Withnail-ing their way through life on impotent charisma.” Amy, though, had a different charisma, as Brand calls her “sweet and peculiar but most of all vulnerable.”
At the time of their early interactions, Brand was still a drug addict — a characteristic that was common among Winehouse’s group of friends. “She was “a character” but that world was riddled with half cut, doped up chancers, I was one of them, even in early recovery I was kept afloat only by clinging to the bodies of strangers so Winehouse, but for her gentle quirks didn’t especially register,” Brand writes.
But it’s his summary of hearing Winehouse perform live for the first time that truly grasps the power — and tragedy — behind Winehouse’s legacy.
I arrived late and as I made my way to the audience through the plastic smiles and plastic cups I heard the rolling, wondrous resonance of a female vocal. Entering the space I saw Amy on stage with Weller and his band; and then the awe. The awe that envelops when witnessing a genius. From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie and Ella, from the font of all greatness. A voice that was filled with such power and pain that it was at once entirely human yet laced with the divine. My ears, my mouth, my heart and mind all instantly opened. Winehouse. Winehouse? Winehouse! That twerp, all eyeliner and lager dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I’d only seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy sound. So now I knew. She wasn’t just some hapless wannabe, yet another pissed up nit who was never gonna make it, nor was she even a ten-a-penny-chanteuse enjoying her fifteen minutes. She was a f—–g genius.
The touching tribute ends not with a screed about celebrity pain, but a warning sign to all humans who might suffer from substance abuse.
“We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease … Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there. All they have to do is pick up the phone and make the call. Or not. Either way, there will be a phone call.”

Rainbow Niagara Falls Photo Goes Viral on Twitter [PIC]

When the clock struck midnight in New York State on Sunday morning, same-sex marriage was suddenly legal in the state. What better place to tie the knot than Niagara Falls, especially when it’s lit up like a rainbow?
As gay couples began their midnight nuptials at the traditional honeymoon spot, they were surprised by the sudden colorful backdrop of Niagara Falls sporting the rainbow hues that have served as a rallying banner for LGBT activists fighting for their civil rights.
Pop singer/actor and former ‘N Sync-er Lance Bass snapped this photo of the Falls (update: turns out he didn’t snap this photo — it was by Flickr user from a Mykelle Nicole, but it’s being passed around as a symbol of the official beginning of gay marriage in NY), and posted it to TwitPic as the crowd celebrated the auspicious occasion. Now the photo’s gone viral, with more than 31,000 views so far. Exclaimed Bass in a Twitter post just after midnight, “Niagra Falls right now! So amazing!”

Judge Throws Out Winklevoss Lawsuit

The Winklevoss twins have hit another setback on their seemingly endless quest to prove they created Facebook.
On Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Douglas P. Woodlock dismissed a lawsuit Divya K. Narendra ’04, Cameron S. H. Winklevoss ’04 and Tyler O. H. Winklevoss ’04 brought against Facebook.
In 2008, Facebook had offered them $65 million in cash and stock, but the trio continued to pursue the social networking company in court.
This suit demanded that Facebook turn over documents they claimed were suppressed during the original settlement agreement, including instant messages between the twins and former Harvard student Mark E. Zuckerberg, the Associated Press reported.
The ruling put a cap on what was a busy news week for the twins. On Tuesday, former University President Lawrence H. Summers basically called them assholes. Later that week, the twins complained about the remarks to Drew G. Faust, Harvard’s current president.
Is this the last we’ll hear from the Winklevi?
Doubtful. Tyler Meade, the twins’ lawyer, said that he plans to file a motion to re-open the case.

Facebook scam spread by fake Oslo video link

A Facebook message claiming to show video footage of the car bomb that tore through a Norwegian government building in Oslo is a scam, security experts warn.
The scam has spread across thousands of Facebook profiles and is infecting one user every second, reports technology website Help Net Security. So far, no video of the blast has been released.
The message appears on a user’s wall and reads: [Video] OSLO Security Camera Captures Blast!
Users who click on the link will be redirected to a fake YouTube video player, the security firm Sophos warns.
Victims of the scam are then prompted to prove they are at least 18 years of age before completing an IQ test and entering their mobile phone number to view the video.
They will be sent text messages four times a week with trivia questions, with each question costing them $2.
If a user has already been hit by the scam, Sophos recommends removing the entry from their newsfeed and to make sure the link has not crept under their profile’s “Likes” section. Mobile Marketer also recommends victims contact their mobile provider and to contact their bank.
This is not the first time Facebook users have been cautioned to be wary of fake viral video links.
Just hours after news broke that Osama bin Laden had been killed, a video scam spread virally on the social media site.
Similar to the Oslo scam, curious users were prompted to click on a link, masking as a wall update, which allowed them to view banned video footage of bin Laden’s death.
Earlier this month, All Facebook reported that the supposed leaked video of Casey Anthony confessing to her lawyer was also a scam.
The post, like the Oslo scam, appealed to news junkies.
It read: “BREAKING NEWS – Leaked Video of Casey Anthony CONFESSING to Lawyer!”

Google+ Strategy: 5 Tips to Help Marketers Get Ready for Brand Pages

With 10 million confirmed users of Google+, and comScore reporting there were 20 million visitors to Google’s new social platform during its first 21 weeks of existence, it’s safe to say from a pure numbers perspective that Google+ is off to a hot start. Brands, after seeing the potential on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, are ready to jump into the Google+ pool, but there’s a problem: the lifeguards at Google aren’t ready for them – and neither is the platform.

Despite a slew of stories across the web that reported Google+ business pages would be coming later (though a few hundred brands would be allowed as part of a pilot Google+ program, including Ford), some brands jumped on the platform anyway, and, as promised, Google began shutting down many of these accounts Friday.
Naturally, this being the Internet, a flood of whining and grandstanding followed. Google is now promising to “roll out rudimentary business accounts by late fall,” according to ClickZ.
While brand marketers may feel anxious being barred from the network, they can take this time actually strategize about how to best use Google+ once it opens the doors to brands. A one-strategy-fits-all solution for social marketing doesn’t work in a day where users are flocking to different social networks for different experiences.
Brands need a concrete strategy for Google+. Though it’s early, it’s not too early to start mapping out a Google+ marketing roadmap.
1. Do Your Community Research
If you have a list of key brand influencers, check to see if they’re already active on Google+. You don’t want to spend time and money focusing on a platform if your key influencers aren’t there. That’s like walking into a crowd and screaming your message, hoping some of the people you want to hear it are there.
2. Use it Yourself
You’d be surprised by the number of marketing professionals who spend time around conference tables pontificating and strategizing about “social ROI,” “engagement strategy,” and “social sharing” who don’t actually participate in social media. Don’t be one of those people. Immerse yourself in the Google+ community and learn the nuances that make it different than other networks.
3. Create Your Community Strategy
Before you begin marketing to Google+ users, you need to put a solid community strategy in place. Build a plan that answers the following questions before reaching out to them on the platform:
- What are the potential ways to communicate in this channel? (Posts, promotions, paid ads, contests, updates, and other content)
- How is this channel different than our other social media channels, such as Facebook and Twitter?
- What are target audiences looking for from this channel? Are they like Facebook users, of do they come to Google+ to interact about different topics than they do on Facebook?
4. Decide on Success Metrics
Figure out what you can measure on Google+ to determine success for your marketing or brand engagement goals. Make a list of all the metrics you can measure (e.g., number of fans, clicks, comments, shares).
No one knows whether Google+ will offer a paid ad program, but chances are they will, and those ads will come with their own measurement metrics. But for now, figure out what you can measure from the get-go.
5. Develop a Rollout Plan
When the gates open and brands are allowed on Google+, there will undoubtedly be a flood of content hitting users who will have just gotten used to using the new network for their personal relationships. Create a phased content rollout plan to ensure you don’t bombard your targets with unwanted messages. Start slowly, and tweak content based on reactions.
Don’t forget to use your existing social media platforms to tell your communities about your new Google+ presence. Try something like: “Are you using Google+? We just joined! Come connect with us there for (add distinct information that will be shared on the channel).”

No one knows where Google+ will land on the social network success matrix, but one thing is for sure: Google will throw its weight behind the success of this endeavor. How, when, and why people decide to use Google+ will impact every marketer in the coming months. By taking a proactive approach, you can stay ahead of the curve and jump in when the water’s warm.

Facebook, Twitter as addictive as drugs

Several studies have found that Facebook, Twitter and Google are as addictive as drugs.
People react like twitchy addicts denied their drugs when forced to give up access to the Internet and other electronic media.
And just like a boozer who leans on bourbon as a social lubricant,
online addicts believe that people who aren’t hooked on the information superhighway, text messaging and instant messaging are huge bores, reports the New York Post.
“Giving up technology was considered by some to be as hard as quitting smoking or drinking,” said the research firm Intersperience about a new study of people deprived of their online habits.
According to the study, a full 53 percent of 1,000 people surveyed reported feeling ‘upset’ when “deprived of Internet connection.”
The study also found that, 40 percent of those people “feel lonely when not able to go online.”

Dom gets something to drink and walks to the bathroom area. He says I’ve never seen so many people up so late. Jeff says we want to know what happens after 3… Porsche and Rachel go outside, followed by J/J. Dom is paged to the DR.
Dom comes out of the toilet and says he has to go to the DR. Dani says I hate you.
Tarot room: Dani says Shelly said you were crying. Kalia says I went outside and they were having a conversation and it just stopped. Everyone is bugging out. Dani says I know, I just didn’t want to deal with it tonight. Dani says Porsche said she was sleeping upstairs. Kalia says I think they came on and told her…

Kalia says I don’t like the martyr thing. When I get angry or stressed out I cry. They all came in here and started talking. She says I just needed an hour to think about something else. Tarot Room: Dom tells her that Jordan told me to make deals with B/R and with you. I told her that she would go up and tell them to keep me. She is obviously out for vengence against B/R but… (must be talking about Shelly) Dani says you should just make out with Porsche (they saw Shelly walk by) Dom says I feel like she was just waiting for a certain someone to leave, then pounced on me like a rabid dog. Dani says you can have my bed and I’ll sleep in the HN room. Dani calls Dom a douchebag. Dani talking about how her knees are messed up… she says it as from wearing Converse when she was little, so she doesn’t drive much.
Dom tells her she is a professional mute when she whispers. Dom says he misses Grapevine where you can try all different types of grapes made into amazing desserts… says he would kill for one. Dom says I want to just go to sleep. I hate this room, it’s not a good place to talk and if you close the door… Dani says I liked it when it was the gym. Dom says someone told me they once had a sauna in here. Dani says the season after mine. He says it must have been nice. She says no it wasn’t. Don’t like saunas. Dom says me either, can’t breathe. (yawn)
Outside: Rachel talking about a night of drinking where she was so wasted, she literally crawled. Shelly talks about folding towels. Lawon talks about color coordinating his clothes. Shelly says I have official stopping cleaning and folding at 2:30 am so you can shut your room down now. Shelly says she wants Monster Blue. Consensus is no one likes Red Bull. (all talking at one) Shelly says I spend so much on Monster Blue, it’s a 60 dollar a week habit easily. Says she doesn’t know why she can’t get it for case price. (did they sponsor her?)

Outside: Talking about Season 11. Kardashians. Talk Soup. Talk shows. Shelly teases Adam about being a TV Guide. Another shout out to Dingo. Rachel says her fans made a site for her and Brendon and it was so nice. She says it had clips from the hammock and from Bold and Beautiful. Rachel says she wanted to buy it but the girl said no. She says she hopes it is back up and running. Jeff says they had one called JeJo and it was good, but they haven’t met her or talked to her.

Jeff says anything we put on twitter goes on there. They talk about how there is nothing bad on there. Shelly says she is going to go on there and check it out. Rachel says she does when she is having a bad day. Shelly says it’s time for bed. Porsche says I’ll escort you. Adam talks about LiveCams, Rachel says she like the ones with puppies. Jeff says he is going to bed too. Adam and Porsche follow. Mad rush for the bathroom. Lots of toothbrushing. Rachel makes her way to the HOH room.
Bathroom: Shelly says they don’t ever get up but they stay up forever.
Dani says I feel a hammock time coming on. Kalia says it’s so cold outside. Dom says that’s what makes it good. Dani offers her bed to Kalia. Kalia says no, you sit and pick at your hair… (in case you haven’t guessed, Kalia can’t stand finding hairs) Jeff stops by and says he will see them in 20 minutes when he goes to pee. They talk about shooting pool. Porsche stops as well. Says it’s almost three. Jeff talksa bout bars that are open till five. Kalia talks about Titty bars. Jeff and Porsche walk away.
Talking about armpits. Adam joins them. Dani wants to know who farted.

Facebook: Don’t even think about putting Google+ ads here

It seems only moments ago that Google+ aficionado Michael Lee Johnson rose to prominence after a Facebook ad he tried to place–asking people to follow him on Google+–was disappeared by Facebook.
Should you remember all the colors to this fine rainbow of a tale, Johnson claimed that Facebook banned all his other ad campaigns too.
Initially, Facebook was silent on the issue. However, in a fit of unusual doggedness, I squeezed the company until a trickle of juice emerged.
Yes indeed, Facebook did ban Johnson’s ad that mentioned Google+. Yes, indeed, his other advertising accounts were dismembered. There is, however, a however.
The offending ad for–or, at least mentioning–Google+.

A Facebook representative told me: “As many companies do, and has been our policy for quite some time, we reserve the right not to run ads that promote competitive products or services.”
But was Johnson’s ad really an ad for Google+? We will return to that in a moment.
Let’s allow the Facebook rep to continue: “In this specific case, we did not disable any [advertising] accounts as a result of running ads for competitive services. The account in question was, in fact, a separate account that was disabled for violating other parts of our terms of service. In accordance with our policy, we did stop running the specific ads, but this action did not result in the deactivation of any accounts.”
Naturally, the representative declined to be more specific about Johnson’s alleged transgressions. What is clear, though, is that Facebook believes Google is stomping on its pristinely manicured social lawn. And it doesn’t like it.
But here’s a question: Was Johnson’s ad actually an ad for Google+? Headlined “Add Michael to Google+,” the copy read: “If you’re lucky enough to have a Google+ account, add Michael Lee Johnson, Internet Geek, App Developer, Technological Virtuoso.”
If Wittgenstein, Bertrand Russell, and Rupert Murdoch sat and debated this ad, they might conclude that it was an ad for Michael Lee Johnson, not for Google+. At no point does it say Google+ is better than Facebook. At no point does it say Johnson believes Facebook is a company full of clowns on bicycles.
It merely serves to make Johnson’s ego feel slightly more warmed by the idea of enjoying some artificial friendship wherever he can find it.
Facebook’s position seems to be that any ad that even mentions Google+ is verboten. The company also believes that Facebook users have plenty of other places to mention Google+, such as on their own walls or in their own updates (Some people have even chosen to use the Google+ logo as their profile picture.) Why should the company allow the mention of Google+ in ads?
This might prove to be a difficult decision as the Battle of the Social Smugginses plays out. Google will very soon roll out its business pages.
Then many companies will choose to have a presence on both social networks. What if one of those companies decides that, in the interests of the open sharing so fostered by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, its ads should direct customers not only to its Facebook page, but also to its Google+ page?
Would Facebook tell a large corporation that it can’t do that? Very likely. Would it be wise? As with the wisdom of every dominant figure in world history, we will only know in hindsight.

Justa speak for yourself. I know a lot of people who started off smoking pot, and when that wasn’t enough they sought more dangerous drugs for the fix. Pot is used for medicinal purposes yes, and when legally perscribed and given to someone under supervision, like a doctor, it has it’s positives. But for some people who are not strong enough to just spark up once in awhile, especially when they are extremely depressed and looking for a way to escape POT is a gateway drug. You look like you’re from the burbs, so YOU should know this.
Anyway, it is true that taking drugs is a choice. Some people have a high tolerance but they can walk away from it. I had a cousin who tried cocaine a few times, but she didn’t like it so she stopped. But I have an Uncle out there somewhere that started using pot at 15 and then pot turned into coke, then meth, then whatever else. He just did not have control over himself to stop. So yes it’s a choice, but sometimes once your body has even just a taste, it craves it. That’s what my uncle said. He said in his mind he wants to stop but his body won’t let him. I don’t know. I’ve never been an addict or take drugs.
So rest in piece Amy Winehouse. At least you got to share your gift for us before your final act.
