Google may be looking at creating verified accounts, CNN reported Tuesday, in an effort to leverage star power and give the network solid footing.
It worked for Twitter, of course, which awarded “verified” badges to celebrities, giving them an official way to send quick updates to adoring fans.
Google is working constantly on building more features and incorporating feedback from its 10 million users into the network during its field trials.
The company has said that it’s working with businesses to find a way to best use corporate profiles on the network.
If the report about celebrity verification is true, it doesn’t come a moment too soon. Just ask William Shatner, who let his Twitter followers know Monday that his Google+ account had been taken down.
My Google+ account was flagged for violating standards. Saying hello to everyone apparently is against the rules maybe I should say goodbye?
Shatner’s profile has been reinstated, though he wrote that he still doesn’t know why it was taken down in the first place.
